Indirect Speech: 100 ejemplos de frases en estilo indirecto en inglés

El estilo indirecto o reported speech se utiliza mucho en inglés. Es muy común en conversaciones informales, reuniones, mails de trabajo, etc., así que es importante que aprendas a utilizarlo correctamente. ¡No lo confundas con la voz pasiva! Ese un tema distinto… 

En este artículo te explicamos brevemente qué es el reported speech y cómo utilizarlo, más cien frases para que te familiarices con este recurso discursivo.  

Qué es el estilo indirecto o reported speech 

Cuando queremos explicar lo que otra persona ha dicho, podemos hacerlo de dos maneras: utilizando el estilo directo o utilizando el estilo indirecto (reported speech). El estilo directo consiste en replicar las palabras de esa persona tal cual, una por una; el estilo indirecto consiste en explicar lo que esa persona ha dicho, pero sin usar las palabras exactas que esa persona ha pronunciado.  

Como puedes ver, el estilo directo es bastante sencillo de utilizar; solo tienes que repetir las palabras exactas que la otra persona ha expresado. El estilo indirecto, en cambio, tiene una pequeña dificultad: que tenemos que cambiar el tiempo verbal, igual que en castellano. Eso significa que necesitas tener un dominio bastante elevado de los tiempos verbales en inglés para utilizar el reported speech. Fíjate en estos ejemplos.
